History

8th April 1914 Pukehina Native School was opened with two teachers, Miss G Handcock and Miss M Handcock, and 20 pupils. The school was built on 5 acres of land donated by Te Rangitakoha Mita, after 5 years of negotiation with the government.
30th October 1946 An unveiling ceremony of the carved flagpole took place.
May 1964 The school’s 50th jubilee was held.
1986 The beginning of 1986 marked the widening of the community with the inclusion of the children from Rotoehu school.
April 1989 “Tomorrows Schools” was introduced with the election of board of trustee members.
May 1989 The school celebrated its 75th jubilee.
2011 Edu care opened.
April 2014 The school celebrated 100 years with a Centennial weekend
